Jim Richie describes a leader as “a person that takes other
people to high ground.” This is so true a leader is not someone that steps on
others to be above them, instead a true leader seeks all to progress. This is
likely to be the so because a true leader is motivated by a higher cause. A
cause that transcends the leader. A leader is willing to take a stance; a
leader is willing to stand up for important issues even if that means standing
alone. Because a leaders are willing to sacrifices themselves. I have always
thought that it is better for myself to hang back a bit, but as I have matured
in my career and even during the weeks of this course I have become to
understand that this is not a hero’s journey. It is my responsibility to be a
leader, because of the abilities I have been blessed with. Keeping them under a
bushel is not what the Lord requires of me.
Another statement I thought on this week is, GOOD is the
enemy of GREAT. This leads on what was mentioned in the book A hero’s journey. Greatness
is reserved for those who put in the effort to overcome good. It is easy to be
good but being great requires hard work and dedication.
